Chord charts can be a great way to visualize chords on the fretboard and know positions in relation to each other. They can aid in memorization and learning ways to utilize the pedal and knee levers for certain voicings.
Here are some chord charts for the E9 neck, that display the G, C, & D major chords in some key open and pedal positions on the neck. If you’re playing in the key of G, these positions can be a great way to navigate through the harmony, and many licks can be found in them as well if you utilize one or two strings at a time instead of all three.
Click on each image for a close-up view! The F symbol denotes raising that string a half step, which is a change usually located on one of the knee levers
The numbers on each note represent that fret position and pedals/levers used, just like in tablature. Even though the fretboard part of the diagram is great for visualizing these postions, having the number and pedal/lever with it can make it even quicker to visualize.

Private Lessons
Many students I work with are players who feel stuck or overwhelmed by scattered information and aren’t sure what they should actually be practicing.
If you’d like help applying these concepts directly to your own playing, I work with a small number of pedal steel students each month through remote lessons.
